Ever wonder why there are so many rules about hairnets, handwashing, and clean zones on the production floor? đźŹđź§Ľ
It all comes down to GMP. Whether you are new to manufacturing or a seasoned pro, you are the most important part of keeping the production line safe. Here is the What, Why, and
How of Good Manufacturing Practices:
📦 WHAT is GMP? GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practices. It is the strict set of rules and systems that facilities follow to ensure consumable products—like food, cosmetics, and medicine—are made to the highest quality standard every single time.
🛡️ WHY do we need it? Because GMP protects people! When you follow these guidelines, you prevent cross-contamination and errors. You are directly ensuring that the food or products going to the grocery store are safe for the families who buy them (maybe even your own!). It also keeps your workplace safe and prevents the facility from being shut down.
âś… HOW do you enforce it? Having a rulebook doesn't work unless the team on the floor brings it to life. You practice GMP every day by:
🧼 Hygiene: Following strict handwashing protocols before hitting the floor.
🦺 Gear: Wearing your PPE correctly (hairnets, gloves, clean uniforms).
🧹 Sanitation: Keeping your workstation clean, organized, and free of clutter.
🗣️ Speaking Up: Reporting spills, hazards, or broken equipment immediately.
At RidgePoint Staffing, we take pride in sending out teams who take safety and quality seriously. You aren't just doing a job; you are protecting the community.
